The American Academy of Landscape Design is an advanced education curriculum aimed at improving landscape designers' understanding of the most sophisticated and often overlooked aspects of landscape design. Graduates will possess the confidence and skill set that will differentiate themselves from other designers and will allow them to effectively communicate ideas based on sound design principles.
The Academy is the realization of a longtime dream of founder
Tim Thoelecke Jr. His company
Garden Concepts has designed and built custom residential landscapes for 17 years and won numerous awards and press recognition. Garden Concepts' Vision Statement reads "Be recognized, within and outside the profession, as an innovative leader in the design an installation of high quality, custom residential landscapes." That vision is behind the mission of the Academy as well.
The American Academy of Landscape Design was created in response to a long-standing need in the industry for high quality, efficient training in the field of landscape design. Professional landscape designers and landscape architects are busy people, especially at certain times of the year. Spring can be "like trying to drink out of a fire hydrant," according to one familiar with the seasonal rush. For this reason, classes are offered only in the "off season" from November through March.

The Academy is THE source for landscape design professionals to raise their skills, confidence, knowledge, and professionalism above the competition.
We respect the fact that busy professionals have limited time and funds to improve their professional lives. With that in mind, we aim to provide high value in a short amount of time.
Our goal is for attendees to be "students of the art" and cultivate the hunger to keep improving.
